We met in Edmonton and bonded over travel, cold beer on sunny patios, late nights at Folk Fest, and an ever-growing list of places we wanted to explore together.
Eventually, we made our way back to Prince Edward Island, closer to family and the place where Derrick grew up. Shyra fell in love with the island the very first time she visited nearly a decade ago, and it’s been home in her heart ever since.
It’s here, along PEI’s beautiful red shores, that we built a life, a family, and this business together.

Humble Love was born out of OUR shared obsession:

I’m a multi-passionate creative with a thing for storytelling—whether it’s through unforgettable weddings, soulful events, killer brand design, or content that actually connects.
Originally from Edmonton, I now call the dreamy coastlines of Prince Edward Island home (seriously, it’s as magical as it sounds).
For the past 15 years, I’ve been deep in the world of weddings and events—and I still get goosebumps every time someone walks down the aisle. Designing authentic, intentional experiences is more than my job—it’s one of my true passions.
When I’m not bringing visions to life, you’ll find me living my best cozy-caffeinated life as a wannabe at-home barista, walking my pupper Keira on the beach, renovating our home because I am obsessed with interior design, and globe-trotting with my co-founder/husband (aka Derrick) and our daughter, Margot.

Hey guys, I’m Derrick, co-creator of Humble Love Weddings.
I am originally from Prince Edward Island, but have spent the last 16 years living in Edmonton, now located on the North Shores of PEI. My career in the hotel and hospitality industry spans over 20 years, during which I've orchestrated hundreds of events and weddings of all types and sizes. There's nothing I love more than planning the logistics of an event and seeing it all come together – it's truly my passion.
These days, you’ll find me back on the Island with my partner-in-life-and-business Shyra, our daughter Margot, and my pup Keira the Heeler. When I’m not coordinating a timeline or building a custom bar setup, I’m probably relaxing with a cold craft beer or planning our next family adventure.
